TMDS – I don’t give a… is a unique way of saying “I don’t care”.
TMDS (Things My Dad Says) episode 2 features a unique saying that Jeremy grew up hearing.
That’s right, I don’t give a hole in the middle of a rolling donut.
If I was trying to give my Dad my opinion that was usually followed with a “what you think”. So the complete phrase that I am familiar with is “I don’t give a hole in the middle of a rolling donut what you think son”.
In the redneck speak of rural northwest Missouri this phrase is a drawn out way of saying “I don’t care”. Just in case you needed that clarification.

TMDS – growing up in rural America
Over the years as I have Tweeted these old sayings I have received so much feedback from our fans. These old phrases take them back in time, bringing back memories of their parents, grandparents, and\or other family members.
For those that didn’t grow up in the country it reminded them of their extended family that lives or once lived in the country.
However, some don’t get it.
It was 2016 in Wadebridge, England. My friend Andy, who is a Captain for British Airways, wanted to learn some redneck phrases.
Andy was enamored with the redneck, country lifestyle in America. He loves big trucks, guns, hunting, fishing, and all other things country.
After I taught him a few redneck sayings he decided to try them out on people. He eventually ran across a city girl from southern California.
“Americans don’t talk like that” she said.
Thankfully our good friend Chris Ward was present and promptly chimed in with a “Oh yes they do! A majority of America speaks that way. Just maybe not in the bubble of southern California.”

My Mom: “Be good and if you can’t be good, do good at whatever your being!”
LOL! That’s a good one! My Dad said something very similar 🙂
My dad always said – glad you got to see me-
