Things My Dad Says is a new YouTube series by NEELY that draws on all the old redneck sayings Jeremy heard his Dad say.
Growing up in rural northwest Missouri, Jeremy heard all kinds of funny sayings from his Dad, John Neely, as well as other folks in the community.
Now we will share these saying with the world.
The first episode of the series starts our with the classic, “Let er’ rip, let er’ roar…”. Watch the video to watch Jeremy finish out this phrase and share a little context of how it was used.
Things My Dad Says: how a series was born
The idea for the series was born from a Tweet Jeremy did years ago on the NEELY Twitter feed. The response was so overwhelming that he wrote down all of the old sayings he could remember.
That’s when the “Things My Dad Says” Twitter series was born on the NEELY Twitter account.
Then several people began asking if Jeremy would make videos. This sparked ideas from having some of his friend’s in England quoting the sayings as “Honorary Brithish Rednecks” to even featuring his Dad on a few.
All in all this series will allow long time fans to experience the quirky humor of Jeremy as also made evident in the Behind the Scenes series.
Made possible by Patreon
September 2018 NEELY started a Patreon account hoping that their friends, family and long time fans would jump on board to help them make new music as well as new videos.
It was an immediate success as folks jumped on board
By mid September NEELY was booking studio time at The Amber Sound to record “Here With Me”. This was the first new music to be recorded and released by NEELY since “Kiss My Grits” in 2014.
The news of this made their Patreon project flourish even more.
